| What is Accelerated Free Fall? | Accelerated Free Fall or AFF is an internationally recognised method of teachng someone to skydive from scratch, giving them the ability to perform basic maneoeuvers in freefall, open their canopy at a safe altitude and fly themselves back to the landing area all without assistance |
| How is this acomplished? |
We conduct a 9-Stage AFF course. We break the 1st jump up into 2 parts: 1. Ground course. Where we teach you about your equipment; canopy flight & control; radio, emergency & aircraft procedures and, of course, procedures related to the freefall portion of the stage 2. Stage 1. Where you learn how to exit the aircraft with your 2 instructors, what is required of you to meet the aims or goals of the stage followed by the jump itself |
| Is it safe? | This is a question we get a lot. As with anything you do, skydiving is as dangerous or as safe as you want to make it. We have rules & regulations that are there for our safety; we use state-of-the-art equipment that is manufactured to exacting standards and we have Instructors that are expert in what they do and act in a professional manner - all of which gives us as well as you, the student, as safe a skydive as is humanly possible. To put this in perspective - world wide, that adds up to several million safe jumps per year |
| How long does it take? |
If you do just the 9 stages, then these can be done in approx 3-4 days (weather permitting). For a complete 'A' Certificate, you really need to allow 3-4 weeks as you have a total of 25 freefalls to complete. This allows for weather problems which we obviously have no control over |
| Can I do the AFF with you and do the rest of my jumps at home? |
Yes you can. Through enquiries with other overseas Drop Zones, we recommend that you do the AFF towards the end of your trip as currency is an issue in your home country A video of stage 7 & 8 will provide proof of your competency, as these are the hardest 2 stages but involve all the manoevures learnt through the course Without the video jumps it will cost you Instructor jumps back home until they are comfortable with your ability |
| Where can I get accommodation? | On arrival to start the course, we may be able to provide accommodation whilst you are with us - this is just something we try to do! |
